Was in the area scouting out some things and thought I'd drop by the old battery. Another great site on the White Cliffs with some fantastic extant features. Apologies for the bad lighting in places, I'm working with VERY basic equipment and some of my photos didn't come out to the minimal standard I wanted. I've squished a few together here and there to save space.
This'll be a long one, folks ...
The first rifle range.
It's pretty much OP galore up there. I think I found about 4 of them.
I understand that these 3 pillars would have held the actual observation device.
Good old 1940s army colour scheme
A few buildings have been closed off and/or filled with farmer's crud. I love these blast protected entrances though.
Gun emplacement.
Magazines.
Second rifle range.
303s.
Plotting room (horrible picture!).
The deep shelter was pretty much a no go! Did not fancy that at all, especially with the high winds and slightly damp conditions in places + my fear of heights (plotting room took some fear conquering!). I risk injury fairly often doing Urbex, but there's no way I'm going to push it so much and potentially kill myself! Just looking at it gave me vertigo
Will post up a couple of detail shots of fittings, etc in a second post.
