Well, a nice price but if I'm paying that much I would expect to have a complete roof on the buildings.

A complete roof is the last thing you want in this situation! The value here is the land/views - with no properties on the site, planning permission would have been almost impossible to get. Buildings already on the land open up the possibility of conversion into dwellings - if fully roofed; then extra windows could be put into structure and interior divided up into sitting and bedrooms - but the original floor plan would have had to be adhered to. If only partially roofed or entire roof structure missing, then partial or full demolition and rebuilding within the majority of the original ground plan; to provide dwellings, is possible with the right permissions. It is a long winded and time consuming job - even if you are only wanting to build a small cottage on the family farm for a working cousin. Having been there and done that; have decided to be a Lawyer dealing with land and property when my time comes around again!!

Hi, we recently purchased the above property with the intention of restoring the buildings to their former glory & taking the farm in a new organic direction. We politely ask site users to keep out of the farm during the renovation process for their own safety. Last week some people kindly kicked one of the doors in to gain access, jemmied window shutters, and left the gate open so all the sheep escaped - all pointless because anything of interest had already been looted, and we have cleared out what little was left in the buildings for renovation work. Whilst there is nothing of value on site, we are informing the police of this incident and we do not want people with reasonable intentions to be mistaken for vandals or sheep rustlers. Hopefully when we get some clarity on Brexit (?!)- and thus the options for the new farm enterprise - we will be able to welcome the public back to the restored buildings. Meanwhile, we would really appreciate people respecting our property and animals as we would respect theirs.

Sorry to hear about the break-in. Highly unlikely that it will be anyone associated with this site. Good luck and hope you succeed with the project...
