The land of sheep and chavs!. When we visited 7 years ago the place was quite tidy! As far as I know Upwood in Cambridgeshire closed to flying in the seventies. It was later used by USAF and there is a small clinic still in use by them next to the base. It was a very errie place as it contained hundreds of buildings some with sheep walking about inside them!. The hangers were in tact and I think some gilding is still done in the area. I understand that now the site is being redeveloped into yet another housing estate. So each road names like Spitfire Avenue and Hurrcane Way etc..

Wow, this really interests me as a regular visitor to the site. :)

Do you know what price it was actually sold for?

My first visit was in March '07 and it was in excellent condition then compared to what it is now. (It was also less than a year after they'd fimed a certain movie there ;) )

Fark! Hadn't seen that! Thanks for the link!

Hmm, at least it looks like they're keeping the Officers Mess, and the Commanders House...

What film was made there then?
