The Tinsley Banking Engine was stabled in the shed at the bottom of Tinsley Bank a steep gradient which joined the Midland "Old Road at Treeton. The locomotive assisted the trains up the bank by pushing from the rear. With the Advent of Diesel Traction the need for a banking engine became obsolete and the structure fell into disuse and platelayers and other p-way staff used the building for storage.
The Shed Stand near to the M1 Junction at Meadowhall and is in a bad state of repair with no internal fittings left, The doors disappeared long ago and now the structure is slowly deteriorating but the roof support beams are still sound.

Security is non existent as the only thing that is removable are half burnt tyres, empty bottles and weeds. It may look basic but this building played an important part in the railway transpot infrastructure in the local area.
