Traveling with Kids This Summer - Recommendations

I plan to travel to the UK this Summer and travel all over. I will have my kids with me. Any recommendations on some derelict places it's 'safe' to take them?

Come on, now. Where's your spirit of adventure? I'm sure you want Derelict Places to still be going a generation from now. I was wandering around derelict places when I was a young teenager, sometimes with my maternal grandfather who was also one for going back into the past.
