Hi All
You have just got to love Dover if you like military sites to explore. This is the next part of our 3 day mad tour of Kent and Dover.
Lydden Spout is located along the cliff edge to the West of Dover.
The Lydden Spout battery has 2 parts, first off are the 3 gun pits, each of which is linked via an under ground passage to the Magazines and then as with most of the other
batteries in Dover there is and under ground plotting room.
First we'll look at the magazines. The picture on the right is one of our hero's about to enter the first room. It look like the crew mess room. With fire place in one corner.
There are 2 hole here, the second leads down in to the magazine tunnel. At the far end are the two magazines, the blast doors have gone but the size of the frames hints
at the amount of ammo that was stored in them.
As you can see the magazines are of different sizes.
Still in place on one wall is this
Next on to the under ground plotting room, the main entrance has been back filled but the emergency exit shaft and ladder are still in good order.
Looking down the exit shaft and then along the exit tunnel to the main plotting room.
These are shots of the main plotting room and other rooms.
Well that's about it for Lydden Spout, there are a few more pictures of the magazines and plotting room.
if you would like to see them please go to
