    Default Ye Old Inn – N/Wales – Feb 2015

I do not really have much to report on this site. It closed around 2007 and since has had a few planning consents placed against it. Looking at some archives I could only find records dating back to 1914 and nothing prior to this, there isn’t much archive material at all.

Located in the quaint village Rhydtalog – the local pub would have been central to this community. It now lays in a state of disrepair.

A will start with an original “in its prime” picture for comparison (obv not mine):

And now, a shadow of it’s former self:

A little evidence remains of the merry times, joy’s and even sorrows spent in its century of service:

The building has also taken a beating with water damage, damp, and probably ran sacking.

The cellar looks as if it could still serve a pint today!

There is no warmth left in this heater or the environment.

The Chef would have performed his duties in what would have been a good kitchen with top notch extraction 

And now for the social areas, just down the corridor:

Upon arriving home (within 10 minutes) I had the Police knocking on my door asking what my business was at the Pub. A local appears to have mistaken my tripod for a crowbar. After showing my pics to the PCW they kindly went on their way – my first encounter with the old bill in this nature. They were very nice and understanding. The wife on the other hand ……………

I will raise a glass tonight to this old place - interesting venue, but sad to see it like this.......

    Thanks for looking.

It must have given you a bit of a fright having the police at your door. Mind you they are less scary than the Mrs. :)

Pass here often, didn't realise it had fallen into such a state of disrepair.

I was more niffed to be honest, somebody took a picture of my car reg and claimed a dodgy looking fella. "Dodgy" how very dare they .

Good reason why explorers should read the laws section - it was only because I could show / demonstrate it was purely photography that they were ok with me. Still, really enjoyed recording it as there isn't much on the place. :):):):):)

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
