I saw this little chap poking out of the trees whilst walking the dogs a while ago but didn't have my camera with me.
finally remembered to bring it this time!
Now i'll admit here and now i have no idea what type of pillbox this is, and don't really have more than a passing interest in them so haven't got any history.
Just thought i'd share an interesting little site!
It's located on the east coast near Theddlethorpe.
Oh, and ps. i only had my 70-300mm lens on me so couldn't get any decent interior shots!

If anyone out there knows more about it, feel free to fill in the blanks as it were!

By the looks of it its a Lincolnshire 3 bay pillbox and a mighty fine example at that. Nice one Darkness

Is this the one not far from the roadside near the crazy bends by any chance?

hey Badoosh, nope i think i know which one you mean tho,
This one is here, just off Churchill lane.

Bads are there some of these Lincs three Bays near or just South of Cleethorpes on the Sea Wall?

Ah i know the one now, thanks for that. There's about 3 or 4 more within half mile of this one. One is on Saltfleet Road (near the crazy bends) in a field. One further in the sand dunes & i think the other is again in a field, been a long time though.

yeah the place is littered with them round there!

Actually these are pretty rare being found only in Lincolnshire, hence the name. They're basically two type 23 pillboxes joined back to back to form a central AA well with two infantry bays either side.

Cheers

Steve
