Hi there!
1st explore for me, and very interesting, but tiring as hell!
This site is still operational, although much reduced in activity since its heyday. Plans are afoot to demolish the lot and build a "residential community" on the island. Houses, schools, shops etc. Although with the current state of the economy, that could take a while to come to fruition.
The whole place (inside) is covered in soda-ash which has the texture of flour and looks like a thick covering of snow. Lens changes had to be carefully done outside!
Scary times at the top of the silos, but the view was amazing, with the ability to see the Anderton boat lift, and Jodrell Bank in the far distance.
Anyway. Enjoy!
#1: Shot from the rear...
#2: Broken Glass. The front of this can be seen from the road over the river.
#3: Staff Room. Long since abandoned....
#4: Top of the silo looking back towards the building balanced precariously on top of it.
#5: And the stairs down inside the silo.
#6: A rusty old ammeter covered in ash.
I'm still working on processing more images at my Flickr site so feel free to periodically check back there for more shots.
