Last port of call on our day out round Milford Haven was this neat little battery. The fort it belongs to is within the site of an oil refinery, and so is out of bounds. The battery was built in the 1860's like most of the other Milford Haven defences, but it saw service right up unitl WW2 and there are little bits of evidence that show this, like the light fittings that have been added to the barbettes.

A great way to round off a great day - even if we had to hike a couple of miles to get there! The most amazing thing is though, that we didn't even scratch the surface of what's in Pembroke. We'll definitely be back!!

Blimey -is that the same place? I wonder if thats what we could "hear" underneath all that gorse and bramble? Still - a nice walk, even if it was in the rain and a crackin' day out all round. Thanks very much chaps!!!!
