Bailey Mill-Oldham Rd-Delph-Visited March 2010
Bailey Mill Dates back to the mid 19c, the Mill was run by Mallalieu's for many years, but they went into administration in 1996. They came out of administration when they were bought by another Delph weaving company, Gledhills. However, in doing so, most of the business was transferred to Valley Mill, just up the road. Bailey Mill remained open until about January 2000. The Mill still retains much of its industrial past, including a magnificent loom on the top floor. Vandalism, Pigeons and the other vermin that take copper and anything else they can sell has taken its toll, but the building is still reasonably intact. While i was there, 2 Pikies were stripping lead from part of a roof. I thought it best to lay low at first and was slightly worried about my camera gear, but i wasn't going to let them ruin my day. I decided to explain to them that i was a surveyor taking pictures, they soon buggered off!
