Ever since I first visited the Llangollen Railway in the late 1980s this old abandoned cottage just west of Berwyn Station has fascinated me. I have often looked at it but only got round to taking a few photos of the remains in November.
There isn't much to it and hence I didn't post it here initially but I have changed my mind I as some might find it interesting and perhaps even someone might actually know more about it!
The cottage has been abandoned for so long that the bank behind has fallen into it and trees and bushes have grown from the bank. The cottage has almost become a retaining wall for the busy A5 road. If one looks at the photos it actually looks as though there are possibly two adjacent buildings and there is a break in the stone work.
I am certain it is not one of the A5 toll cottages as there is a former toll cottage just a mile or so further west which now trades as a kiosk café.
If anyone knows anything about the history of this cottage or has a picture of what it used to look like when inhabited please get in touch!
